New homes

The Government has advised that three million new homes will need to be built in the next 15 years to meet growing demand.

Targets for housing growth across Suffolk Coastal District, set by the East of England Plan, require that 10,200 new homes are built in the area in the period to 2021.

BT believes it has a unique opportunity to create a truly sustainable new residential community on land surrounding Adastral Park that will help to meet the District’s demand for new homes.

By placing jobs and homes side-by-side, BT can create an integrated, intelligently designed new community which will encourage and promote more sustainable ways of living.

Just as Martlesham Heath did when it was planned and built in the 1970s, the new residential community will incorporate the highest standards of quality and design.

BT’s proposals include plans for up to 2,000 new homes on land surrounding Adastral Park, together with comprehensive new infrastructure, services and facilities.  Up to 35% of these homes will be designated ‘affordable’.  See Community and Leisure page for more information on what facilities will accompany the new homes.
