The vision

BT, working with an experienced team of masterplanners, landscape architects, engineers, ecologists and transport specialists, have developed proposals for the regeneration of Adastral Park and surrounding land.

Since it opened in 1968, Adastral Park has been a local, regional and national centre for innovation and a key contributor to the local economy, supporting around 4,000 jobs and bringing more than £800 million into the local economy each year.  But now its buildings and facilities are ageing.

For Adastral Park to maintain its position as an international centre of technological excellence and remain competitive in a global market, reinvestment into the site is needed.

Adastral Park itself covers nearly 100 acres, though BT owns a further 250 acres of land surrounding the site.

BT therefore has a unique opportunity to create a sustainable 21st Century community, with jobs and homes side by side, which will help meet the increasing need for new homes in the region.

The outline planning application submitted by BT includes plans for the redevelopment of Adastral Park, including an increase in the available employment floorspace and an expanded University presence at the site.

This will be provided alongside a new residential community, with its own education and healthcare provision, public transport, shops, leisure and sports facilities and public spaces.
