Welcome

Welcome to the Adastral vision website, which provides information about BT’s vision for the development and regeneration of Adastral Park.

BT submitted its outline planning application for the redevelopment of Adastral Park and surrounding land to Suffolk Coastal District Council (SCDC) in September 2008.  Following feedback on the plans from SCDC as well as from local residents and statutory consultees, BT made minor revisions to the plans, and submitted an amended application in April 2009.  The application is set to be determined by early 2010.

For an overview of BT’s revisions to its first application please look at this vision document.

Further information on BT’s proposals for Adastral Park can be found on this website.

What’s involved?

What’s involved?

BT made the decision to relocate its main Research Centre from Dollis Hill, in London, to Martlesham in 1968.  A new and exciting facility was developed to provide the very best place for engineers, scientists and researchers to pioneer ground-breaking communications technologies.

From the start, BT and Martlesham have been synonymous with innovation.

Since the late 1960s, a great deal has changed.

BT is a different business and now competes as a private company in highly competitive global markets. In step with this change, BT’s presence at Martlesham has moved on.

‘Adastral Park’ was launched in 1999, as the new name for the site, creating a home for a wide range of exciting initiatives for business, education & skills, and economic development.

It is one of the biggest centres for jobs and commercial activity in the East of England and is now home to more than 20 other companies.
To ensure that it can continue to be so, BT, with a specialist regeneration team, has submitted proposals for the redevelopment of the current Adastral Park site, together with neighbouring land.
