BT calls for feedback on vision for Adastral Park

Following its series of showcase events on the emerging vision to regenerate Adastral Park and surrounding land, BT is encouraging people to submit their views on the initial proposals before Monday 5 May 2008. Feedback forms provided during the events can either be returned to BT in the post or can be completed online at www.adastralvision.co.uk.
Eight showcase events were held in communities situated in and around the Park between Saturday 29 March and Friday 4 April, with BT keen to involve members of the public and to incorporate their views into the emerging proposals. BT was pleased that approximately 1,000 people attended the events.
Once all of the responses have been received, BT will undertake a full analysis of the feedback provided and will look at how the emerging vision can incorporate comments made by the public. Further opportunities will be available to comment on the vision later in the year.
Phil Dance, Senior Manager at Adastral Park said: “Working with local residents and the wider community has always been integral to developing the vision for Adastral Park. At every stage, we have sought to provide opportunities for the public to comment on our plans and to help us get it right. We were delighted with the large attendance at the events, which totalled approximately 1,000 people, and we received some very constructive feedback.
This is great stuff. We are now reviewing comments carefully, and if you haven’t already let us know your thoughts on our vision, please do so before 5 May.”
Mr Dance added: “However, this will not be the last opportunity to feed back on the proposals, and we will come back with more detailed plans later in the year.”
Responses received after 5 May will still be logged by the development team.
Adastral Park is recognised as one of the most important sites in the East of England Plan. The surrounding land owned by BT has also been identified by Suffolk Coastal District Council as having the potential to accommodate a proportion of the District’s future housing and related development.
BT first announced its future vision for Adastral Park in March 2007 and has been consulting with a number of key stakeholder organisations, including local parish councils, interest groups and residents’ associations.
BT’s vision for Adastral Park includes:
- Creating 21st century accommodation through a major transformation of the existing commercial buildings, which will help to ‘future-proof’ the park and deliver new jobs.
- Utilising the latest thinking on sustainable and environmentally efficient technologies.
- The development of a new residential community, including educational facilities, shops and leisure facilities, designed to provide a truly sustainable development.
- Building on the park’s history and traditions to ensure that it stays synonymous with innovation and success, and that its contribution to the local economy will increase through new jobs and new opportunities for business and education.
